About the Adirondack

Rivermen Ice Hockey is a premier high school hockey team here in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains and Hudson River region. The Rivermen High School Hockey team was formed in the spring of 2013 as a merger of three high schools hockey teams; Glens Falls High School, Hudson Falls High School and South Glens Falls High School. The Rivermen logo symbolizes living on the Hudson River and the water fall that connect each of the three communities; the city of Glens Falls on the north side of the Hudson River, the city of Hudson Falls to the east of the water falls and the city of South Glens Falls to the south of the Hudson River. The students from the communities have all grown up in the same river region and many grew up playing ice hockey together through the Adirondack Youth Hockey Association (AYHA). The Rivermen Ice Hockey team brings these groups of kids together again to form a high school Ice Hockey Team. The Rivermen Ice hockey team will practice and play all home games at their home ice rink, the Glens Falls Recreation Center, also the home of AYHA. The Glens Falls Indians ice hockey team was the first high school team to be formed in this region in 1985. The Glens Falls Indians have been a competitive section 2 team for over 25 years, winning the New York State Championship in 1990 & 1991. The South Glens Falls Bulldogs Ice Hockey team was formed in 1987 and played in section 1, successfully competing in high school hockey for over 25 years. The Hudson Falls High School team is the newest entry into high school hockey as they first formed a high school hockey team by merging with South Glens Falls in 2011. Now these three high schools have united to become one hockey team, the Rivermen Ice Hockey team.
